Quarter Horse Mare
Daphne is a gorgeous Red Dun Mare and is one of those rare been there and done it all kind of horses everyone is looking for these days!
We picked up Daphne at a local auction where she was ridden through the ring by a young girl.
She can be ridden English, Western, is a perfect trail horse, and has a steady eddy, more whoa than go personality.
She stands well and lets you groom, brush her without moving
She loads in the trailer perfectly and stand tied patiently and does not pull back.
She knows how to one hand neck rein, roll back, backs with her head to her chest and we wouldn't be suprised if she had been roped off of before.
She's a big stout mare that an adult male could easily ride or a young kid.
She isn't spooky at all and doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She is not mareish and lives right now with a mini horse in her pen and stall.
She is an easy keeper and does well on just grass hay in a slow feed haynet
She did have some patchy hairloss on her neck and face but have treated that and the hair just needs to re-grow.
She also had a small cut on her right hind leg which we have cleand and treated but will continue to heal.
She came in with a stone bruise on her left front so we put shoes on her till that heals, but she likely will not need shoes long term.
Does well out in the pasture with geldings and mares 24/7 or can be stalled and does not have any vices
She is a super fun mare to ride and just makes you smile and goes easily in a basic snaffle.
Had no problems being ridden in the indoor arena on a windy day and is not buddy sour or herd bound.
She can use a little encouragement to keep going and is a bit more of a kick ride but she will go when asked.
She likes to stop when you tell her "good girl" as she thinks she's done.
We took her over trot poles which she'd never seen before and just gave her a little encouragement and over she went.
She is a point and shoot kind of mare that anyone could ride.
We think she would make a great kids horse for play days, trail mount, pleasure riding horse, lesson horse, husband horse, you name it!
She stands well to be mounted from the ground and does not move off until you are ready to do so.
She is great around dogs and does not kick out at them and is also great with the senior mini mare we have with her.
We blanketed her this winter and She does not require any supplements.
She is the same horse no matter which day you pull her out or how long you have left her in the field.
She is up to date on de worming, coggins, vaccinations, and farrier care.
We think one family will be so lucky to have this lovely mare in their life!
Update: We took Daphne to the Win A D Win a Key Barrel race last weekend and she was amazing! Loaded and stood perfectly the whole race. We were able to leave her tied and go and eat in the restaurant. She carted my 2 year old around and did exhibitions and a snowman fun race. While she’s not fast she would make a fantastic play day horse for a kid as she is super safe for all ages!
