Meet Grammar!
This sweet girl has has had a rough start to life but things are looking up now.
She last raced on 6/17/2022 retired sound from the track as she just wasn't fast enough.
She was then passed between two homes in a short period of time.
Unfortunately, in her second home, she was put in a pasture with electric tape fencing.
She ran through the fence and sliced up her right front and left hind badly.
Even more upsetting, she didn't receive appropriate veterinary care and the injuries became a lot worse.
Luckily our rescue was able to step in and start her healing journey.
She has been an absolute saint for bandage changes and even when it's uncomfortable she's always a good girl
She loves to run and buck and play in turnout and has always been very sound and a beautiful mover.
She has received PEMF treatments by Bit to Bit Equine and countless bandage changes.
She was also given a round of GutX as she was underweight when she arrived as well.
Grammar has healed beautifully and has become an absolute favorite at the rescue.
She is the most sweet natured young mare we have had in a while.
She is very passive and submissive mare who is usually at the bottom of the herd.
She currently goes in a stall during the day and is out at night with 3 other OTTB geldings and mares.
Due to her previous injury we would not recommend electric tape pasture/ fence and would always recommend she have a buddy in turn out due to being lower in the pack, she will get worried being alone.
She has never tried or even offered to bite, kick, buck, rear, etc etc.
She is not mareish at all when she's in heat and you can barely tell when she is.
She is on an all forage based diet and gets alfalfa and some grass hay only and maintains weight well on this.
She has been barefoot since moving here and likely won't need shoes unless you are doing a lot of riding on rocky ground.
Grammar stands perfectly to be brushed and groomed and stands perfectly for the farrier.
She can be a little hesitant going through tight spots, through gates, into the stall, into the trailer, but as long as you give her a moment she works it out and goes forward.
She is perfect for bathing, blanketing, the vet, vaccines, blood draws, de-worming, you name it.
Under saddle she can be ridden English or Western.
She goes in a basic snaffle, but is very light in your hands and could easily be a bitless candidate.
She is a fantastic jumper and easily jumped 4' with ease in the jump chute.
She has more of a hunter style but is calm and willing enough to do jumpers/ eventing.
She's a happy medium as far as speed goes, not a hot horse but also not a dead head.
She is still quite green but learns really quickly and is a very willing partner.
She has a fantastic rocking horse canter and we believe she could go in many directions.
She is up to date on wormer, Coggins, dental, vaccinations, and barefoot trim.
She is not on any supplements or maintenance and has no history of colic or lameness.
The possibilities are endless with this sweet mare and she will be a lucky addition to any family!
