Luna
17 Yrs Old
Percheron Draft mare
16.2 hh
Not only does Luna look like a unicorn, she acts like one too!
Luna is everything everyone looks for in a Draft and is a fantastic 2nd field Fox Hunter.
She is calm and quiet and beginner friendly
She has a teddy bear personality and loves being with people.
She loads perfectly in the trailer, ties, and stands and waits patiently as long as you need her too.
She has been known to sunbath and fall asleep while tied to the trailer waiting to go for a ride.
She is great for grooming, tacking, and bathing and is fine to be sprayed with sprays
She can be straight tied or cross tied and does not pull back.
She is easy to catch in the field and is great to give vaccines, draw blood, and to de-worm
She has no issues with picking up her feet and doesn't need stocks for farrier care
Our regular horse farrier is able to trim her with no issues
She has solid barefoot hooves and does not need shoes
She is very gentle when it comes to hoof handling which is a rare blessing with drafts.
She has no history of lameness, soundness, or any medical issues.
She has also had an ultrasound and is breeding sound as well.
She currently lives out 24/7 with geldings and mares and is easy to catch
She was on the thinner side when she came to Rowley Ranch, so we are working on fattening her up, but that’s what we do best!
To ride, Luna is a joy and while more whoa than go, she will get up and move out for you with a little encouragement
She has three smooth easy gaits and is very comfortable bareback or in the saddle
She will walk trot and canter in the arena, but her real love is being outside of the arena
Anyone could ride Luna and she has been ridden on a hunt by someone who had never ridden her before.
She is a special kind of horse who will take care of her rider and is very sure footed
She will go through, over, and around anything you point her at
Mud. water, ditches, logs, you name it and Luna handles it like a pro
She would be suitable for any level of rider and she can be ridden English or Western
She can also be ridden bareback and in a halter, but does well in a basic snaffle as well.
In her past life she was a carriage show horse and knows how to pull a cart too.
She has also been ridden in a parade and did fantastic.
Luna has been ridden in 1st and 2nd field while Fox Hunting and is wonderful for both.
She is a steady eddy type horse and while she is more whoa than go, she is easily able to keep up with the field.
She is not a spooky horse and is great around dogs, loud noises, cars, cows, or other horses.
She has clean legs and requires no supplements or maintenance.
She is not herd bound and lunges well in a halter. She is soft and gentle on the lunge line.
She is easy to bridle and does not raise his head or protest in any way
He would make a fantastic fox hunter, trail horse, therapy horse, pleasure horse, you name it!
She is up to date on his vaccinations, Coggins, teeth floating, deworming, and farrier care.
Luna was intended to be my husband's personal horse but he sadly just isn't into riding as much as I'd hoped.
She is too nice of a horse to just sit and we think someone will really enjoy her in their family.
Rehoming Fee: $9,000
