Unraced Thoroughbred Mare
Seattle Slew Bloodlines
Peachy is a lovely mare who is looking for her forever home.
Peachy came to us via the Stroud Oklahoma Kill pen where we saw she was listed.
The day before she was tagged and ready to ship to Mexico for slaughter a generous donor helped us save her!
When she arrived at our facility she had an upper respiratory infection but was kind and sweet and knew we were there to help her.
She did really well in quarantine and is now turned out with geldings and mares and loves pasture time.
She has scars all over her body and face as she has clearly been through some kind of trauma after her race training.
She never actually raced on the track but was trained and being more whoa than go we can see why she didn't make a race horse.
She hasn't seen much human kindness but is ready for that to change.
Under saddle Peachy is as beginner friendly as they get.
She is a more whoa than go kind of mare and is a bit of kick ride to get her into a canter.
She doesn't have much experience with arena riding and we feel she would love to be someone's pleasure or trail horse.
With her petite frame she would be great for a woman or child rider.
She is very calm and not spooky at all. She has no vices and is very sweet inside and outside of the barn.
She stood great for her farrier trim and is just a general pleasure to be around.
Stands well to be mounted and does not move off until you are ready to do so.
She is great around dogs and does not kick out at them.
She is not mareish at all and stands great to be groomed and tacked.
We are blanketing her this winter as she doesn't have a great coat. She does not require any supplements.
She can be stalled or out in the pasture 24/7.
We think she would be great for anyone to trail ride with or pack around your kiddos and grandkids!
She is the same horse no matter which day you pull her out or how long you have left her in the field.
She is up to date on de-worming, coggins, vaccinations, and barefoot trims.
On 12/17/23 we took her to Busiek State Park on a trail ride and she loaded perfectly and stood tied at the trailer wonderfully.
She stood to be mounted and liked to be in the lead on the trail but on the way home happily followed in the back on a loose rein.
She crossed the river, met dogs, hikers, traffic, bikes, and also heard a lot of gunfire from the local shooting range.
She was easy to ride and a joy. She was completely barefoot and did fine on the rocky terrain.
We think one family will be so lucky to have this lovely mare in their life!
