First Samurai and Unbridled Bloodlines!
Sami is a gorgeous sport horse mare who sadly suffered the fate of falling into the wrong hands once her racing days were done.
Sami won $104,000 on the track and her sire, First Samurai is still at stud at Claiborne Farms in KY.
After her last race on 12/30/22 she was taken to an auction and was purchased there by a known kill buyer in Louisiana.
Luckily the Director of Rowley Rescue Ranch saw her listed on the Kill Pen Website and was able to get her out of there.
Sami had a hard time adjusting to being a regular horse and has consequently been with us since and is only now available for adoption. We feel that she is now ready for her new home where she will be successful in her future career.
We provided Sami with countless bodywork sessions and magnawave treatments.
She was also given a full course of ulcerguard treatment as she showed signs of digestive upset in the beginning.
During her time here she has been re-started under saddle and is continuing to improve with every ride.
She is a sport horse type mare that has floaty up hill movements and would excel in Dressage, Jumping, or Eventing.
She has a lovely toe flicking trot and can extend wonderfully.
She stands well to be mounted and has learnt how to lunge on and off the line.
She has been started over fences and is jumping 2’ beautifully under saddle and 4’ easily without a rider!
She has been ridden in an indoor and outdoor larger arenas.
We have started Sami on the Barrel Pattern and she has been hauling to jackpots.
She has been hauled to rodeo grounds, gone out on trail rides, can jump, can do dressage, and competed in her first barrel race.
What can’t this mare do?!
She has also been ridden bitless and could go on to compete bitless as well.
She is a big girl with a big frame and has been ridden by beginners to advanced riders and a 14 year old girl and has never offered any issues ever.
Sami loves routine and prefers to have a job.
She does not have any stable vices or bad habits.
She retired sound and has no history or lameness and does not require any maintenance.
She does well on an all forage based diet and is currently getting all alfalfa hay only. No grain.
She can be a little girthy during her heat cycle and we would recommend Mare Magic to help with this.
She is currently barefoot and our farrier does not expect her to need shoes. She stands great for her trims.
She appreciates a fly sheet if she is outside in the summer during the hot days.
She loads well in a straight load ramp and slant load step up trailer with minimal encouragement.
She is up to date on wormer, Coggins, vaccinations, and barefoot trim.
She is not on any supplements.
