Florida Bred Thoroughbred Gelding
Benny the Bull and Mr. Prospector Bloodlines!
Sharkey is a gorgeous sport horse gelding who was surrendered to our rescue by her breeder.
Sharkey never raced, probably because he's so sweet and a little lazy!
While he wasn't the best racehorse he has fantastic bloodlines.
Sharkey is currently in our professional training program.
Sharkey is a lovely example of a sport horse gelding who could go in many directions.
He is a big presence but is very respectful and sweet. He's a gentle giant mentality.
He is always a chill potato and has a super sweet gentleman.
He is the kind of horse you can pull out of the pasture and doesn't matter when you last rode him he's always sensible.
He's never offered a buck or anything remotely naughty ever.
He stands tied beautifully and is great for grooming, tacking, and with his feet.
We think he would excel in English or Western, can be ridden bareback, bitless, and a trail horse.
He's super steady and not spooky at all and loves trails.
He was kept as a stallion till this year where our team had him gelded as a 12 year old.
His one catch is that he still exhibits stud like behavior around mares so needs to be housed separately from mares.
He will run through fencing to get to mares if they are not solid.
He stands perfectly to be mounted and is well balanced under saddle.
He has been ridden in an indoor and outdoor larger arenas and out on trails alone.
He is very light in the bridle and his face and does well being ridden bitless or with a bridle.
He is currently in front shoes as he has thin soles so those or boots would be recommended.
He does not have any stable vices and loves coming inside in front of his fan in the summer.
He's not a big fan of bugs but we put a fly sheet on him and/or brought him inside and he did great.
He retired sound and has no history or lameness and does not require any maintenance.
He does seem to be prone to stocking up if left in a stall for longer periods of time.
Pasture or adequate turnout time is best for him.
Each time you ride him he improves and goes into a lovely frame.
He does well on an all forage based diet and is currently getting all alfalfa hay and 6lbs of Purina grain/day.
He loads well in a straight load ramp and slant load step up trailer with minimal encouragement.
He is up to date on wormer, Coggins, vaccinations, and farrier care.
Sharkey is just the sweetest soul and anyone would be lucky to call him theirs!
Adoption fee: $2,000
