Stormcat Bloodlines!
For a horse that sold as a 2 year old for $55,000 Wyatt sadly has had a rough time!
Wyatt raced till 2019 when he sustained a bowed tendon on his left front leg.
Unfortunately, at some point after that he had a significant injury to his left front hoof.
The hoof has been almost completely sliced through from the heal bulb forward.
He came to us with a very overgrown hoof and in a lot of pain with every step as any pressure on that piece caused discomfort.
We took x-rays of the hoof to ensure there were no internal complications and luckily nothing significant was found.
From there we had our farrier fit him with bar shoes with a pad on both fronts and this made him comfortable.
Since having these shoes on he has had a new lease on life and is playful and no longer in pain with every step.
Our farrier charges $120 for front shoes with pads which he will need every 6-8 weeks.
He does best at being ridden in a larger outdoor, on trails or longer straight lines so a career in dressage, barrels, or jumping is not for him.
Now the positive! He is an amazing charismatic and goofy boy with a ton of personality.
He is more whoa than go and is a kick ride, but once going he maintains a lovely pace.
Unlike his Stormcat bloodlines, he does not have any motivation to go fast.
When you do get him going he has beautiful naturally collected gaits and is a very smooth comfortable ride.
He would be great for advanced beginners and kids as he is very forgiving and just ultimately likes to go slow.
He has had beginner children, teens, and adults ride him and he was perfect for all of them.
If you loose your balance he will stop and make sure you are okay.
Not spooky at all and great around dogs, kids, and loud noises.
He stands perfectly to be groomed and tacked and is very patient.
Wyatt has a wonderful disposition and just wants to please and he loves treats!
He is a teddy bear of a boy who is gentle and kind and loves to be around people.
He is an all-around gem and can be ridden western or English.
We think he'd love to be your next trail horse as he loves to walk on a loose long rein!
Goes around comfortably on the buckle and we rode him in a basic snaffle and he is good about steering and direction from leg pressure.
He has no known vices and is easy to catch in the field and load in a the trailer.
We did sedate him these first two rounds for shoeing to ensure a really good fit, but our farrier doesn't believe he will need sedation long term.
He has no stable vices but prefers to be out in a pasture and is good with geldings, mares, and ponies.
We did find he gets a little stiff in a stall all night so would be happier outside able to move around.
He will chase other horses away when eating, so we recommend feeding him his extra snacks separately as he loves food.
He does not require any maintenance or special supplements.
He might benefit from Equioxx if ridden on long or faster rides.
He currently receives unlimited grass hay and 10 lbs of alfalfa daily.
He is a barn favorite and I'm so glad he came to us and we could help him be pain free.
He is such a lovable big guy and would make a fantastic new family member for someone lucky!
